Austin, TX

HIGHLIGHTS:

  • NATURE: Riverbend RV resort tops our destination list. There are only 8 RV spots, it is privately owned, and there aren’t any amenities. BUT, you are 50 feet from the river, where you can rent a kayak, paddle board or boat. It is located at the end of a beautiful community called Steiner Ranch and is extremely safe. Kids spent hours on the shore, building sand castles and exploring waterfalls across the river.

  • The Oasis: This tourist destination is a must. More than a restaurant, it boasts boutique shops and the best view of Lake Travis. If you sit on the patio, see if you can find our Rollin With the Holmies lock.

  • Cidercade: Both kids and adults had a blast at this cider brewery / old school arcade. For just $15 per person, you can play Packman and air hockey all day long.

  • TX State Capitol: Beautiful architecture and the opportunity to witness Congressional hearings.

    DAY TRIP IDEAS:

  • Georgetown: This adorable town is only 45 minutes from Austin. You can let the kiddos run around the courthouse in the middle of the square while you sip on local beer or enjoy ice cream.

    SHOULD I HAVE KNOWN:

  • If you enjoy hiking, biking, and fishing, Austin has TONS of opportunities. Check out any of the local parks and you’re bound to run into a stream or river.
